Chief Operating Officer
Troy Newman
A “Jack of Trades” would be the best description of Troy Newman.
As a youth, Troy was involved with competitive chess beginning early with strategy and tactics. As a violinist for over 10 years, his ability to hear musical notes and sounds later led to his passion for languages with conversational fluency in Spanish and French. Troy discovered a passion for the outdoors with hiking and backpacking in wild countryside leading to many extreme adventures where he had to overcome adversity. Throughout his high school and college years, he excelled at individual sports ranging from skiing, scuba diving, racquetball, gymnastics and martial arts. His passion for martial arts has continued throughout his life to current day as he constantly adds to his “tool box” with skills in Shuri-Te Karate, Aikido, Muay Thai kickboxing and Krav Maga.
Troy’s career path began with experience in the banking industry and working as a concierge for a major hotelier, teaching him how to go “above and beyond” while providing excellent client services. After graduating from college as a structural design civil engineer, he worked on multi-million dollar bridge and highway projects ensuring timely and cost-effective construction with his valuations of the work.
Troy returned to advance his education by attending the world-renowned American Graduate School of International Management in Glendale, AZ (now known as the Thunderbird School of Global Management) where he studied international finance, trade and marketing with special focus on western Europe. He complimented his studies and fluent French language skills with immersion into the culture and work while living in Paris, France. Upon his return and receipt of his Master of International Management, Troy worked in the marketing and sales division of the international conglomerate, Allied Signal (Allied later merged into the current entity, Honeywell). During his tenure with Allied Signal, Troy began moonlighting and explored the world of law enforcement.
Professionally, Troy transitioned into domestic sales at MCI Communications, managing teams of 20 sales representatives. He continued moonlighting with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and following a short stint with the Phoenix Police Department, he left the business world behind for his true calling in federal law enforcement with the US Border Patrol. His duties began like all agents with the detection and prevention of illegal entry of persons and drugs into the US. Troy tracked and controlled large groups of unlawful activity and assisted with countless seizures of narcotics. Being highly motivated for the next few years, he moved into special operations with the Border Search Trauma and Rescue (BORSTAR) unit. He became a Wilderness Survival instructor providing instruction to both Mexican and American law enforcement officers. As an Emergency Medical Technician, he aided with the rescue of migrants requiring medical assistance or sometimes involved with the extraction of persons unable to survive.
Following the terror attacks of 9/11, there was an urgent need by the US government for seasoned federal agents to “counter” terrorist activity while providing protection and safety for the flying public with undercover Federal Air Marshals. Troy answered this call and for over 16 years traveled over 5 million miles domestically and internationally. His duties entailed the physical security and safety of national commercial air carriers, passengers and property. Covertly, he conducted surveillance of suspicious persons, worked several operations in conjunction with the FBI gathering intelligence and monitoring criminal activity. His skills include counter-terrorism tactics, close quarter combat, advanced firearms marksmanship, EOD disposal training, covert surveillance, active shooter training, emergency medical applications and cultural sensitivity. In 2016, Troy received accolades by the Director of Homeland Security for his assistance to the London Metropolitan Police with the arrest of a combative wanted fugitive.
After retiring from federal law enforcement in 2018, he keeps active with today’s youth as a substitute instructor at high schools in Colorado Springs assisting primarily with French, Spanish, mathematics, science and physical education. He maintains his Top Secret security clearance by conducting background investigations on military members and defense contractors seeking their security clearances required by the Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security.
