Safe Travels Global Group Team Leader, David Thompson, is a retired Senior Federal Air Marshal with over 25 years of experience in security, counterterrorism, supervision, and leadership. David began his impressive career with the Federal Bureau of Prisons and spent 10 years as a Supervisory Lieutenant where he also served as the Special Operations Response Team Leader. During this time David also served as a SORT trainer for the entire South Central Region where he shared his expertise with others.

Following the events of September 11, 2001, David began his tenure with the Department of Homeland Security where he was a Federal Air Marshal assigned to work from the Cleveland and later the Miami field offices. During his time of service David logged over 6,000,000 international and domestic air miles while conducting Top Secret counterterrorism missions worldwide. David earned the title of International Team Leader primarily responsible for missions in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. David’s extensive credentials and skills also include: Aircraft Tactics Training, Advanced Tactical Training, extensive knowledge of Advanced Investigative Techniques, Firearms Instructor Certification, Dynamic Active Shooter Response experience, Advanced Interview and Interrogation Training, and advanced knowledge of Surveillance and Counter Surveillance Techniques.

In addition to his time as a Senior Federal Air Marshall, David served on several special operations including the security team for the 2002 Winter Olympics where he coordinated the safety and security of athletes from all over the world as they moved throughout the Olympic village and between events. Daivd also was a part of a special operation to help evacuate US passport holding persons during the Israeli/Palestinian conflict in 2006.
